The Barclays Trading Places Awards are all about recognising people who have had real obstacles and challenges in their personal life, but who have overcome those obstacles and set up a small business, and made a success of that small business and in doing so have turned around their lives.

These awards are different to many others which generally sort of reward businesses or recognise them for their financial prowess, how they have grown and so forth, these awards are slightly different and a bit more subtle.

Absolutely shell shocked when they were saying about the company who has gone through so many knocks and everything else. I was sort of looking at Nicki and others round the table thinking is that us.

Its about the people, its about the passion, and its about the creativity of their ideas and the success it brings.

I really wanted to be part of this, because their stories are so inspirational and to be honest I think we could all do with some good news right now. And its so good to come to something like this where people have overcome such incredible obstacles and really, some things that really a lot of other people would have given up and these folks have said no we are just going to keep going and it makes their achievements so much more admirable I think.
